I’m seriously tempted to switch from my current web development software of choice, Espresso. If you’re thinking of getting it too, I suggest acting fast. Coda is normally $99, but it’s $49 for today and tomorrow only!

Grab it from their website, which I would suggest so they don’t have to give Apple the 30% cut. If you want iCloud functionality though, you’ll have to grab it from the Mac App Store.

Pressing the Home and Power buttons

1. Press and hold the home button
2. While holding the home button, press the power button

That’s it. Now your screenshots can be viewed in the Photos app, or any app that can access your camera roll.

If you want to take screenshots of the Kindle Fire, you still can. It’s a fairly involved process, but once it’s set up, taking screenshots is a breeze. You don’t even have to root your Kindle Fire to do it.

It’s so simple, a computer science major could do it! Not like that iPad toy, and it’s dead-simple screenshot method. That’s for dummies.

There are quite a few of these apps out there, so I’ve compiled a short list of my favorite menu bar apps. These are apps that I simply cannot do without, and I hope you’ll find some of them useful in your Mac workflow. Most of them are free, but a couple of them cost a few bucks (but are totally worth it).

Quicksilver – This one is a staple of Mac menubar apps. You assign a shortcut key that brings up a small window in which you can type, for example, Safari, and upon pressing ‘enter’, Safari will open.

You can also use it for various commands, like controlling iTunes, or creating an event in iCal. It’s much more complex than my description gives it credit for, I don’t even use this app to it’s full potential.

Isolator – This one is pretty simple. Isolator will, with a keyboard shortcut, dim everything on your screen except for the forground window. This helps you focus on what you’re working on. I use it alot, especially while working in Photoshop.

You can also set the color and opacity of the background dimming. As well as apply effects like blur, desaturation, and a couple ugly ones.

Jettison – Probably the most simple app on this list. It requires no user interaction at all. This app simply ejects any external drives automatically when you close your MacBook. This is handy for people like me who forget to eject their external drives before they close their MacBooks as they go to move it or put it in a bag.

And if you open the MacBook without unplugging your drives, they will be automatically remounted

Yoink – This app is a godsend for people who move around files a lot. When you begin to drag a file (or a group of files) a little drawer pops up from the side of your screen. This drawer can store your files, until you take them out. It’s handy if you want to move some files into another folder, or if you want to drag some media files into a fullscreen app.

Clip Menu – Have you ever copied something, and thought “crap, I needed that text that was in my clipboard!” I do it all the time, so I was so relieved to come across Clip Menu. It’s pretty simple, it’s just a little menubar item that keeps a history of everything you copy to the clipboard. There are a few paid alternatives out there, but this freebie does the job perfectly, without a lot of fuss.

Nathan Drake’s first two Uncharted adventures will be digitally distributed on the PlayStation Network starting next month. On June 26, both Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Game of the Year Edition will be available in boxless form. Oddly, Sony has announced no price for the digital copies as a set nor individually.

If you haven’t already played these games, pick them up, either physically, or when the digital download comes out in a few weeks. These are a couple of the best games on the PlayStation 3.

If you can only get one, get Uncharted 2, it’s a masterpeice.

As rumored, I think it’s very likely that these new MacBooks will forgo the optical drive. Will they be thinner? Undoubtedly. My personal guess is that they will be the same thickness all around, rather than the tapered design of the MacBook Air. I’m personally hoping Apple replaces the optical drive with a second HDD/SSD, but that’s just a pipe dream.

Furthermore I think it’s a given that Apple will drop the Ethernet port. I’m willing to get a majority of people (myself included) don’t use the Ethernet port. If you’re not one of those people, get an Ethernet adaptor. I think they will keep the FireWire 800 port though. But that’s just because we’re still in the transition period to Thunderbolt. It’s clear FireWire is on the way out, and I can see it disappearing entirely within the next year.

The real question is, will the displays on these new MacBook Pros be retina? I don’t think so. I have no doubt they will eventually go retina, but I think the Air will be first to get this particular upgrade. The MacBook Air is Apple’s flagship Mac, as such it gets preferential treatment. It was the first to drop the optical drive, it was the first to get the unibody design, and it was the first to use SSDs exclusively.

So when will we see the new MacBook Pros? Well, WWDC is coming up very soon. Apple is more than likely planning a reveal for then, as a platform to show off Mountain Lion. In fact, I have a feeling that these machines will be shipping with Mountain Lion. I think both will be shipping shortly after WWDC.
